Why Visit The Canary Islands?
There are 7 islands that make up the Canary Islands – Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, La Gomera, Lanzarote, El Hierro and La Palma.
The islands were produced by volcanic eruptions many many years ago and are now popular tourist destinations for both the young and old.
Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura are the 4 most popular islands with vibrant resorts, all year round sunshine and crystal blue waters. Both Lanzarote and Fuerteventura are perfect for lovers of water sports and golf and Tenerife (Playa de Las Americas) and Gran Canaria (Playa del Ingles) are the most popular for partygoers.
La Palma and El Hierro are situated to the west and Lanzarote and Fuerteventura to the east. Gran Canaria and Tenerife both have northern regions that are wetter and greener than the southern areas and has some picturesque, inland mountain villages. Fuerteventura is known as the windy isle, although boasts some of the longest, most glorious beaches in the Canary Islands. It is also home to the yearly championships.
Known as ‘La Isla Bonita’, La Palma is popular for its beautiful views and panoramic scenery. Along with El Hierro and La Gomera these three of the islands are situated farthest west of the group and are the least commercialised of the islands.
The Canary Islands are a popular all year round holiday destination for all kinds of people. Tourists can explore the mountains, participate in a wide range of outdoor activities or simply relax on one of the many glorious beaches.
